Governor Pat McCrory released the following statement congratulating the Livingstone College Blue Bears for their second-ever Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) crown and a berth into the NCAA tournament.

"I'd like to congratulate the young men from Livingstone College on their berth into the NCAA tournament after winning their second-ever CIAA crown," said Governor McCrory. "Livingstone is well known for its academic and athletic excellence. I'd like to wish the team and coaches the best of luck as they go on to the NCAA Division II tournament."

The Blue Bears beat Winston-Salem State 106-91 in the CIAA Tournament finals at Time Warner Cable Arena in Charlotte this past weekend.

Regional play for the Division II tournament begins March 14 with the semi-finals and finals March 25-28 at the Ford Center in Evansville, Indiana.

In April, following Livingstone's first-ever CIAA tournament win, Governor McCrory hosted the team at the Governor's Mansion for a reception. Livingstone is a Christian school established in 1879 in Salisbury.
